About Adam Place Guest House

Adam Place Guest House has been welcoming visitors to the heart of the Lake District for over two decades, offering a warm, friendly atmosphere where guests are treated like family.

The Beginning

In February 2004, Linda and her late husband, Stevie, took over Adam Place as a four-bedroom guest house. With plenty of hard work, dedication and a passion for hospitality, they transformed the property into a welcoming home for visitors from across the UK and beyond.

Just a year later, in 2005, they undertook renovations to expand the guest house from four bedrooms to five, allowing them to welcome even more guests while maintaining the personal service that Adam Place has become known for.

Overcoming Challenges

In 2013, life took an unexpected turn when Stevie was diagnosed with dementia at just 53 years old. Despite the challenges this brought, Linda continued to care for Stevie while running the guest house, ensuring every guest still received the warm welcome and attention they deserved.

Sadly, Stevie passed away in 2018 following his battle with dementia. Determined to continue the dream they had built together, Linda carried on running Adam Place, honouring the years of hard work and memories they had shared.

Through the Pandemic

Like many small independent businesses, Adam Place faced one of its biggest challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. With travel restrictions in place and bookings coming to a standstill, it was an incredibly difficult period. Thanks to Linda's resilience, determination and the continued support of loyal guests, Adam Place successfully came through those uncertain times.

A New Chapter

In 2020, Linda met her partner, Chris, who has since become an important part of Adam Place. Chris helps with the day-to-day running of the guest house, ensuring guests continue to receive the same friendly service and welcoming atmosphere that has always been at the heart of Adam Place.

Today

Today, Adam Place remains a proudly independent, family-run guest house. Whether you're visiting the Lake District for walking, sightseeing, business or simply a relaxing break, Linda and Chris are committed to making your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

Many of our guests return year after year, and there is no greater compliment than welcoming familiar faces back through our door. We look forward to welcoming you too and helping you make lasting memories in one of the UK's most beautiful destinations.
